European Parliament:

On 19 February, a first debate on the revised Clinical Trials Directive was held in the European Parliament’s Health Committee. The aim of revised Directive is to breathe new life into clinical research in Europe by simplifying procedures and differentiating between various clinical trials based on risks. EuGMS has worked successfully with MEPs Lambert van Nistelrooij, Esther de Lange (both PPE-NL), Glenis Willmott (S&D-UK) and Antonyia Parvanova (ALDE-BUL) to ensure specific references to frail and/or older people in the adopted text. This will be voted in the Committee in March and in the Parliament’s plenary session in May.
