MEPS unhappy with budget for Horizon 2020

On 26 September, the Parliament’s Committee on Industry and Research expressed its concerns about the Council reducing the budget for Horizon2020, the upcoming EU research and development framework programme. According to Rapporteur Christian Ehler (EPP), none of Parliament’s initiatives were taken over by the Council.  The European Parliament plenary vote is linked with a final decision on the 2014-2020 multiannual financial framework which has allocated some €70 billion to Horizon 2020. Horizon 2020 will take over from the Seventh Framework Research Programme (FP7) on 1 January 2014.
