Topic: Nutritional perspectives in older people undergoing cancer treatment
Presented by Dr Carly Welch – She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at King's College London. She works clinically as an Honorary Consultant Geriatrician at Guy's and St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trust in the specialist Geriatric Oncology Liaison and development (GOLD) service and has a special interest in exercise and protein supplementation to prevent and treat sarcopenia and muscle-spectrum disorders. She is currently co-principal investigator on a study funded by the Wellcome leap Dynamic resilience programme, which aims to understand how dynamic change in fundamental mechanisms of ageing (including inflammation, senescence, and the gut microbiome) relate to clinical manifestations of impaired resilience in older people undergoing treatment for colorectal cancer.
