Council of Ministers:

Ministers responsible for Employment and Social Policy met on 28 February in Brussels. One of the main agenda items was the recently adopted Social Investment Package, and this was presented to the meeting by Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion László Andor. The Commissioner underlined that the package responds to the need for modernising the welfare states, gives guidance to Member States on better performing active inclusion strategies and a more efficient and more effective use of social budgets.The Council will deal with this package more in detail at a later stage.
